Challenge:

Pressing need to transition from a restrictive, entrepreneurial mindset to a growth phase. Required confronting and overhauling established processes and entrenched sales strategies, which were falling well short of expectations.

Solution:

After a critical, in-depth assesssment, we repurposed team members to create momentum and develop a winning feeling. Marketing and advertising needed a repositioning with more coordination between agencies, including social media and interactive. This, coupled with new and exciting ideas, plus new, highly targeted products to capture previously untouchable market segments, set the stage for growth. Through our strategic planning process, we helped create structure and accountabilities from which the client team could chart their own success and sustain results long after our departure.

Outcome:

The company is experiencing a sense of re-birth. Sales have exploded with new products leading the way. Changes to the team, both in assignments and new players, have rejuvenated the players and the future is now exceptionally bright.

Challenge:

A tech start up with an explosive platform technology in the payments space was doing everything right, except growing its sales. There was an extraordinary cash burn rate threatening the company’s existence.

Solution:

We started with extensive whiteboard sessions with management and investors. We changed the positioning from an operating company to a developer of platform software that would allow a large strategic player to use it to execute their strategic plan. Focusing on areas in which the client excelled, developing game changing technology solutions, and providing solutions to companies in much better position to use them to change their retail world, made us a partner to their efforts and allowed customers to buy from our client versus compete with them.

Outcome:

In less than six months, we were able to demonstrate the effectiveness of the product and pique the interest of the world’s largest competitors in retail. After three months of focused effort, we attracted purchase offers from two large companies and sold to one of them generating a purchase price of nearly five times invested capital. All employees were retained and the team continues on under a new company umbrella, fulfilling the mission they had set for themselves.

Challenge:

An early stage company with game changing technology found itself unable to gain traction in its market. Losses were piling up and cash flow was becoming an issue. The business was at a crossroads.

Solution:

After significant review, we repositioned the client’s key product from a novel device to a powerful solution for its trading partners. Then we created a phased approach to commercialization encompassing the essential phases of awareness, engagement, trial and purchase. We used industry influencers and high profile events to drive opportunities with strategic players. Redesigning distribution was also critical to gain scale to optimize throughput.

Outcome:

The product has gone from virtually unknown to new technology darling in less than six months. The client company has registered its first two profitable months ever with positive cash flow and no sign of retreating. The company has drawn strategic interest from OE’s and other traditional suppliers to the industry, paving the way for investment or an ultimate liquidity event.

He is a leading expert in business growth strategies and has an instinctual ability to assess complex business situations and pinpoint opportunities, as well as outline ways to capitalize on them. He knows what it takes to create a high-performing company, because he has done it numerous times before.

  • As CEO of Zave Networks, a digital commerce company, he engineered its sale to Google in 2011
  • Prior to 2011, he served as Director of TGP Investments, a private equity firm working with mid-sized companies
  • Formerly, he was CEO and President of Corporate Lodging Consultants, Inc., a market-leading process outsourcing company
  • From 1999 to 2004, he was CEO and President of CARSTAR, Inc., the nation’s largest collision repair aggregator
  • He was Executive Vice President of Thorn Americas, Inc. and led its sale to a strategic buyer
  • He began his career in food service, holding senior positions at both Denny’s, Inc. and Wendy’s International,
    in their fastest stages of growth and expansion
